As you all have heard, the WorldCat Resource Sharing interlibrary loan service your library receives through the Montana State Library agreement with OCLC will be replaced by OCLC WorldShare® Interlibrary Loan in 2013.
During the last weeks of March, OCLC held live online training for Montana’s public and special library types. The training covered both borrowing and lending. These sessions were recorded. You now can access these recordings here:
If you are interested in pursuing training at your library, several types of resources are available to you.
Self-paced training
We recommend you first consult the self-paced training resources provided on our Self-Paced Training webpage.
These resources provide an introduction to use of the new service that you can review at your own pace and on your own schedule. For many people, the self-paced resources will provide enough information to successfully begin using the new service.
Live virtual training classes
Virtual training classes will be provided using OCLC’s conferencing software, WebEx. In these sessions, you will walk through workflows for both borrowing and lending with an experienced OCLC trainer.
Note: You must have Adobe Flash installed to use the simulations in the Training classes.
Montana specific training classes for libraries will be held next week and this summer on the following dates at 12 pm Mountain time:

PLEASE NOTE: The State Library will be visiting with OCLC implementation about the request to add a third training schedule in September to accommodate in particular School libraries. This third round of training and implementation would include any library type.
Between now and August (when the Academic and School training sessions begin) libraries who are now ready to start using the new platform may join the general training sessions on the OCLC Training website. Public and Special libraries should note that the Montana specific training classes for Academic and School libraries are suitable for public libraries too.
Libraries that use the more advanced functions in WorldShare Interlibrary Loan also have an opportunity for training. There will be live online training for Deflection and Custom Holdings. There are also tutorials on the training website for deflection, custom holdings, and constant data.
If you have attended a live virtual training session or pursued the self paced training materials and feel comfortable, we encourage you to begin using WorldShare® Interlibrary Loan at your library.
